The government has given assent to Lok Ayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde's proposal to select prosecutors.
He is allowed to choose 20 prosecutors for lower courts and eight lawyers for the HC. Justice Hegde has also asked for a special court to try cases registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Lok Ayukta Act.
"I am meeting the Chief Justice on this,"he said. The government approval follows a recent SC order that it is no longer necessary to have government sanction for prosecutions, The Lok Ayukta will now submit chargesheets against 110 senior officers whose cases are pending.
The prosecutors will be under the Lok Ayukta scanner - four prosecutors were trapped recently for accepting bribe in Bangalore, Mysore, Hassan and Tumkur.
The Lok Ayukta will appoint two prosecutors each in Mysore, Belgaum, Hubli, Mangalore and other centres to expedite trials.
